NEC SuperGrafx Review Index

The NEC SuperGrafx console with one controller attached.

The PC-Engine console (Turbografx as it’s known here) was pretty underpowered compared to the Super Nintendo and even Sega Genesis consoles. NEC looked to create a new system which was a small step up, could play all the old games, and had graphics more on par with what the newer systems were pushing out. This is how the NEC SuperGrafx was born. Unfortunately it was released only in Japan, and only a few games were ever released for it. It wasn’t a success and was quickly swept under the rug. It’s more of a collector’s item than anything now.
