The TurboGrafx-16 was the ‘other’ console in the days of Nintendo and Sega. I, and most people, never knew anyone who had one but saw the games in stores and in advertisements. NEC botched the launch in North America and Europe by including an awful game, Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, as the pack-in. The lack of compelling software prevented it from taking off on a worldwide basis, but it did see success in Japan where it was called the PC-Engine. NEC eventually released a CD add-on but this too failed to gain traction. Despite its shortcomings it amassed a decent library and I love the console.
