Panasonic and EA wanted in on the hardware market. They didn’t really know what gamers wanted and so instead of focusing on games they were dedicated to creating hardware a clear step above the competition. This is where the 3DO was born. It’s a 32-bit console in the age of much weaker consoles, boasted 3D graphics, and used the compact disc format allowing for huge amounts of FMV and voice. The system was priced way out of the market and was a complete failure. Somehow it managed to amass a large library of games many of which you can’t find anywhere else! It’s a unique and cool system that can be had for reasonable prices now!
